I have always had a love of collecting. Inspired by the vintage display cases and specimen cabinets that I had the privilege of working with during my tenure as a student at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, I am embarking on a new personal project. Entitled “Cabinet of Curiosities” this series of composite photography fine art images are created entirely from my own stock photos. The magical images will all feature specimens from my personal collection as well as curious and wonderful things I have discovered through my travels and adventures. At the end of the series each individual image will then be brought together in one fantastic compilation, displayed together in the Cabinet of Curiosities that my mind has imagined and dreamed of for many years! Follow along on my instagram or facebook page to see this magical fine art composite photograph come together from beginning to end.
The very first image in the Cabinet of Curiosities series is “Ballerina”. Featuring my daughter who is a competitive dancer, elements in the image also include a glass cloche from Ikea, an Old Spanish Trail Marker at the St Augustine Visitors Centre, moss from our family cottage in Huntsville, Ontario , my wooden farm table in our kitchen, and as well as textures and environmental elements photographed while exploring downtown Toronto, Ontario.
