Rise International Photography Awards 2019

Rise International Photography Awards

The Rise International Photography Awards celebrate photographers from across the world. Founded by Kelly Brown – Little Pieces Photography the awards aim to encourage photographers to strive for excellence, and provide them with feedback from qualified and experienced photography judges.

The 2019 results are in and I’m proud to have received 3 silvers and a bronze award. Even more valuable is the feedback I received on each of my submissions. I’ll learn from what the judges had to say and use this as a learning opportunity to grow and master my skills as a photographer.

Missing Pieces

When a loved one passes away people celebrate and remember their lives in many different ways. This image represents the feeling that there is always something missing and a great void left behind once a person is gone.

Over the past few years I’ve been interested in entering photography competitions in order to challenge myself as an artist. One of the absolute best photography competitions in the world is the WPPI awards. In 2019 I entered into the WPPI awards for the first time and was shocked to be awarded a silver distinction merit for my image “Missing Pieces”. Not only did this image merit a score of 87 but it also ended up winning the illustrative category! To get a score over 85 is a BIG DEAL. To win a category is something I never imagined achieving! The standards are high in this photography competition and that keeps me motivated to continue creating and entering images.

Port Hope Photographer wins honorable mentions in the 2018 International Monochrome Awards

As my photography journey continues I have set a goal to enter International Photography Awards. By participating in these competitions a photographer gains international exposure and recognition among their peers and within the photography industry. It is also an opportunity to gauge where I am among my peers and assess how I am progressing in my goal to master my craft.

Recently I entered four images into the 2018 Monocrhrome Awards and was delighted to learn that three of my entries placed with honorable mentions in the professional categories of Portrait, Fine Art, and Photomanipulation.

Monochrome Photography Awards conducts an annual international competition for professional and amateur photographers honoring black and white photography. Their mission is to celebrate monochrome visions and discover the most amazing photographers from around the world.
